Description

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) Seed are grown for medicinal purposes. Their flowers are used mainly for heart medicines and they are native to England, but they naturalized in US Pacific Northwest. However, if ingested, these flowers can be poisonous, so you shouldn't plant them if you're worried about children or pets eating them. Their ideal growing regions are: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and Pacific Northwest. The seeds can be stored in a cool, dry storage place, but not in a refrigerator which has an extreme temperature variation.

This lovely, old-fashioned plant will attract hummingbirds to the garden and readily self-sows. Low-growing foliage is topped by 2 to 3 foot flower spikes in June. Plants may re-bloom if spent flower stalks are cut back after blooming.

Their blooming time is during the summer. The Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) are grown in half sunlight which means they require at least 4 hours of sunlight to grow or full shade which means they need approximately 1 hour of sunlight per day. The Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) Seed are purple in color and they are 24-48 inches when they mature. They tend to grow better in average, moist and well-drained soil and they tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, moist soil and clay soil.  They attract bees, butterflies, & birds, hummingbirds.
